Our children

Hi, my name is Niki. I am a stay at home mom of three children (twin daughters and a son), my husband, the sailor, is in the US Navy. This is our journey to becoming debt free by thirty (December 16th, 2011) and ultimately becoming wealthy (which may take another 30 years) Our dream is to be millionaires by the time we retire. It sounds crazy, but I really feel it can be done. If you aren't dreaming you're just sleeping.
   
On this blog, I mostly write about our adventures in saving money, ways we try to make some extra cash and food. I love to cook and eat. This is definitely more of a "personal" personal finance blog. I think it will become clear that I am not an expert, I am just a someone trying to improve their financial situation by educating myself.

I also overuse the word awesome. I can't help it, so many things are awesome. So if the word awesome bothers you, you might want to stop reading this blog.

The sailor and me

I started this adventure as a way to stay on top of our finances. I would have never guessed the amount of support and advice I would receive from fellow bloggers and readers. It's you guys that help make this journey fun and exciting.

As of August 13th, 2011, we are credit card debt free and building up some savings. That means in just under a year we paid off almost $15,000 in consumer debt. Now we still have a ways to go before we are financially independent, but we are making great strides and having fun while doing it. Okay, most the time we have fun. Sometimes it is hard, but completely worth it.

Please feel free to comment with advice or encouragement. I also can take some good old fashioned criticism too.  I don't believe in censorship what-so-ever and will only delete spammy comments.
